- CRAN ( Representative Council of Black Organizations in France) welcomes the appointment of Christine Kelly and Emmanuel Gabla at CSA (High Council of TV & Radio)

... but regrets the lack of diversity at the head of the UMP (French party)Press release of CRAN (25/01/2009)
Since the discourse on diversity of President Sarkozy,
December 17 in Palaiseau, and the appointment of the Commissioner
on Diversity and Equal Opportunities, Yazid Sabeg, CRAN appreciate the
appointments initiated or approved by the Government to
assess the sincerity of the Government on the issue of ethnic & religious diversity.

CRAN therefore welcome the appointments made yesterday in the High Council
of TV & Radio with the entry in the authority
of Christine Kelly and Emmanuel Gabla.
These appointments confirm the will of the government to include the requirement
of diversity at the highest levels of government.

However, appointments to CSA contrast sharply with
the total lack of diversity among the 9 most senior leaders of the UMP
whose names were made public during the National Council of the UMP
24 January 2009.

CRAN recalls that Nicolas Sarkozy said on December 17:
after all that we ask a company, what we demand and
that is required of an administration, does a political party should
not apply it and can exonerate itself of what it asked for
others? "
CRAN requests the UMP not evade its responsibilities
on diversity, and to fight against discrimination
primarily in their own organizations.
